This handle is a perfect length for hitting the pocket of the glove and avoiding the glove from coming in contact with your swinging hand. Easy to control the swing for precise pocket hitting. Since it's one piece it should last forever. I use the small nob at the other end to break in the bottom of the palm of the glove. The strap holds the glove together nicely, but I don't use it. It's kind of therapeutic to sit watching tv while just swinging this into your glove.

This is a good break in kit. My sons agrees it helps break in gloves and he uses this often.

This is my first time using a mallet to shape a glove. I am using it on a new Marucci glove. It is a solid one piece construction. It is a quality nice looking piece. The Rhino logo is a bit rough as it is carved into the ball of the mallet. I prefer to position the mallet using the smooth side, just my preference.The glove wrap is good, might prefer a bit more overlap and Velcro to make it easier to wrap but it works good!!!This is a good set!!

I ordered these with a Rhino Wax conditioner and oil kit. Together they do a great job of breaking in a glove, whether it is new and firm, or old and stiff.The elastic band is soft but constricts well, and I like using it better than the traditional method of just wrapping a bunch of rubber bands around the mitt. It is also somewhat adjustable. As for the mallet, I am a bit less convinced that it is necessary, as I don't know if I really want to pound on the the glove, but I do understand the concept behind it. However, it also allows you to adjust the exact position of the pocket even after you've fully wrapped it, since the "ball" has a handle on it that sticks out.

I got this to break in my new glove. I had used a different kit for my son's and the band broke after the first use. This band is sturdier and I like that it has Velcro so you don’t have to stretch the seams as much but it is a little difficult to get it to fasten at first. The mallet is excellent and really helped to soften up the leather. This kit does NOT come with any type of oil or conditioner to help break the glove in. Luckily I had some of my own and used it in combination with these tools.

This kit comes with a wooden glove mallet and a super strong elastic wrap around that attaches itself with Velcro. I purchased a new baseball glove for my son and he was having a bit of trouble since the ball glove was so stiff. I looked up ways to quicken the break in process and came upon this break in kit. I ordered it and once it arrived, we put it on his new glove. We put the wooden mallet in just below the pocket and wrapped it up. We were kind of lucky because over the next three days, it rained and stormed off and on where I live and we didn't get a chance to use the glove. I just left it wrapped up over those days. The next time we were able to go out and play catch, he said he noticed that it was much easier to open and close. Over the course of the next few weeks, I would wrap the glove up every few days and leave it wrapped overnight. I believe that with the glove being wrapped initially for so long and the combination of being wrapped every few days along with the glove being used got my son's ball glove broke in at least 50% faster than if we just used the old way of breaking it in. A great product to have if you need to quickly break in a baseball glove.

When I was a kid, I never knew that you needed to continuously maintain your glove. I guess I just never had to because my glove was passed down to me and it was a really beat up glove, but it was wonderful. I'd recently gotten back into baseball through coaching my kids and found that there is a whole world of things I never knew. Including this whole glove break-in and maintenance.I recently got the Rhino wax stick and had to follow it up w/ this break in mallet and wrap. In combination of adding the conditioner, beating it down w/ this mallet (vs using my claw hammer) is so much better! Then wrapping the glove w/ a ball inside is just more convenient! Worth it!

The mallet is great for trying to break in the glove. I messed up and got the baseball one instead of the softball set, but in the end it didn't really matter. The wrap is what helped us the best. It's not "name brand" but it might be soon enough! I got this because my son loves baseball and seems to buy a new glove every season. I thought this might help. I was right. It arrived today, but I can already tell there's no need to wait for results before I review it.I've already spent time pounding the glove with it. The mallet is made of one-piece quality hardwood. It feels comfortable in the hand while pounding away. This break-in kit doesn't include glove oil, but it does include a Velcro tie to secure the business-end of the mallet in the glove for shaping the pocket over an extended period of time. The mallet's handle is also designed to be used to loosen up the glove fingers. I've tested that and will complete the finger process once the pocket is done. For tonight, I'll fold the glove over the mallet using the tie to continue creation of the pocket, leaving it like that for a day or two.I am thrilled with this Rhina Wax Break In Kit and confident that in a very short while I'll have the broken in glove I want.

I used to use a baseball to break in a glove. This solid piece of wood (not two pieces like I thought it was) helps form the fingers and the pocket. You will also be able to break in gloves that have been in storage for years and years (maybe you're like me and haven't played in decades and have found your glove because your son just started tee ball). Now you need to break in a stale glove. This kit along with the Rhino wax maintenance starter kit ( or another baseball glove oil, I used the Rhino wax brand) helped me restore my glove back to its glory days.

My son starts baseball this spring. I remember from when I played softball how AWFUL it is when you buy a glove from the store and it's stiff. You can barely catch the ball if you don't work the glove in before you use it. I used a glove softener spray and baked his new baseball glove in the oven for 4 minutes. Then I massaged the spray into the glove and used the wooden stick to hit the inside of the glove to work it in. I've been doing this for DAYS. When I'm not using the wooden stick to hit the glove, I squeeze the glove on my hand and use a real baseball to throw into the glove. I do this over and over again. Lastly, when I'm not working on his glove to get it broken in, I place a baseball inside of the glove, then use the black velcro to wrap around the outside of the glove. This helps the glove to form a pocket for a ball. It's definitely a process, but you really do not want your child starting baseball or softball with a stiff glove. This is a great kit!

The wrap is way too small! Mallet is ok though. I will need to buy a different wrap!

Breaking in new gloves is always a bit of a pain. You have to treat it with some oil and conditioner, and beat it with a mallet, wrap it with a baseball in it, and most importantly play catch as much as possible. I’ve personally had the same glove since I was in high school, but I’ve gotten pretty good at breaking in gloves since I have kids and I swear every other year, and sometimes even every year, they need a new glove.This is basically a wooden mallet and a glove wrap which is a must have when breaking in a glove. What I like about this is that it’s one of those things you should only have to buy once, even if you have kids and are breaking a new glove in every year. The quality is pretty good, about what I would expect for this price point.
